Stephen Mulhern, the host of Deal or No Deal, was apparently taken to the hospital on Wednesday after he became unwell while dining at a restaurant. This incident occurred just a few weeks after the passing of his father.

The 47-year-old, preparing for a new season of Dancing on Ice and the comeback of You Bet, while also recently publishing a book, was having a meal alone at a Pizza Express in Sunningdale.

Mulhern reportedly had just finished an operation and had a negative reaction to the anesthesia after consuming some drinks. This led to the need for an ambulance, and the TV star was taken to Frimley Park Hospital in Camberley, Surrey, for treatment.

In a statement provided to The Independent, it was said: "Stephen has been going through a very difficult period in recent weeks. The loss of his cherished father has taken a significant toll on him, leading to understandable stress."

He also underwent a procedure on Wednesday. After receiving anesthesia, he consumed a few drinks that didn’t agree with him, leading to his hospitalization as a precaution. Fortunately, he is now back home and on the mend.

One source shared with The Sun that "Stephen started feeling unwell right away, and worried staff quickly came to his aid and dialed 999. Paramedics assessed his condition and decided to take him to the hospital as a safety measure. They also made sure he could speak with his mom to let her know he was alright."

This comes just a few months after Mulhern talked about his rumored relationship with his co-host, Josie Gibson.

Gibson and Mulhern participated in the finale of Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway in April, and photos surfaced of them holding hands while on set, leading to speculation about a possible romantic connection.

During an appearance on This Morning in May, Mulhern stated, “Look, she didn’t show up for rehearsals. I guided her and helped her find her spot. That’s all there is to it, end of story,” when asked about the photograph.

Nonetheless, hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley seemed skeptical, playfully poking fun at Mulhern as the show wrapped up.

Mulhern is anticipated to return to prime-time ITV in January when "Dancing on Ice" makes its comeback, a show he co-hosts alongside Holly Willoughby.

This year's participants include Ferne McCann, Mollie Pearce from *Traitors*, Olympic champion Sir Steve Redgrave, Sam Aston from *Coronation Street*, Charlie Brooks from *EastEnders*, comedian Josh Jones, former footballer Anton Ferdinand, actress Chelsee Healy, reality star Dan Edgar, and Chris Taylor from *Love Island*.
