The event happened on Monday at the Arosa resort in Switzerland.

Hediger, 26, participated in the women's snowboard cross event and the mixed team event at the Beijing Olympics.

In the 2023-24 season, Hediger made an impressive mark by securing her first two podium finishes in the World Cup. Her top achievement came in January when she placed second in St. Moritz.

“We are deeply saddened and extend our heartfelt sympathies to Sophie’s family during this difficult time," stated Walter Reusser, CEO of Swiss-Ski. “Her passing was tragic, violent, and came far too early.”
