The best place to live in Somerset - have your say

We already know that Somerset is full of picturesque villages and towns but some of them have been dubbed the best place to live in the country. Eight Somerset and Bath areas have been crowned the loveliest of all, as part of the Muddy Stilettos Top 200 Places To Live series.

Somerset, has a rich history, beautiful landscapes and offers a slower pace of life. City pleasures aren’t too far away here, including Bath, which is regularly featured in The Sunday Times best places to live list.

On the flip side, there are also small villages which have been rewarded as the best place to live in Somerset, such as Wellow. According to The Times, this village is rarer than hen’s teeth — where life revolves around the pub and there is a chicken-keepers’ WhatsApp group.

Somerset is perfect for a growing family, retirement or even a countryside retreat. There are townhouses, cottages, and modernist homes here, suitable for all ages.

It can be difficult to know where the best place to live is. That is why we want you to tell us where you believe is the best area to live in Somerset. We've put together a poll with some of the most popular places to live in the county - all you need to do is vote for your favourite.

Frome

This small town with a big community is full of independent businesses and cafes to choose from. There are beautiful 17th Century homes here which are absolutely stunning. Frome is also the host of the incredible Frome independent market which is on every first Sunday of the month.

Bath

Bath is definitely a desirable place to live and is up there with the most expensive property areas within Somerset. Not far from the town centre and only an hour and a half train journey from London, this is a great place for young professionals and families alike.

Taunton

Taunton has a good selection of independent and high street shops, distinctive restaurants, cafes and attractions, and a wealth of history, all whilst being surrounded by picturesque countryside. This town showcases their commitment to placing the environment and community at the heart of its development.

Wells

Wells is England's smallest city but yet one of the most popular. It is known for becoming a go to place for food, theatre and literary festivals. It has made many appearances in TV shows and films, including its backdrop in Hot Fuzz. Although it is pretty isolated with no railway here and a 45 minute drive to Bath.
