‘Skibidi Toilet:’ If you don’t know what it is, you will

Skibidi Toilet

The viral sensation "Skibidi Toilet" is gaining even more popularity on the internet.

The YouTube show, made by animator Alexey Gerasimov, is a unique global success with over 17 billion views. It showcases toilets with human heads fighting against human-like figures in a cinematic style called machinima.

The "Skibidi Toilet" show has sparked controversy since some parents are concerned about its mix of potty humor, horror elements, and violence. They worry that this combination may not be suitable for children who are big fans of the viral series. It's like a darker version of "Baby Shark" with a touch of dystopia and a hint of Stephen King.

However, despite this obstacle, director Michael Bay and former Paramount Pictures president Adam Goodman are still working on developing the TV and film adaptation of "Skibidi," as reported by Variety.

"We are currently discussing options, with ongoing discussions for a potential television project and initial talks for a possible film project," Goodman informed the publication. "However, these discussions are not the only focus for us."

The show started as short videos created by a 23-year-old Gerasimov, who posted the initial video in February 2023. Gerasimov, originally from the former Soviet republic of Georgia, is collaborating with Bay and Goodman’s indie studio called Invisible Narratives.

Bay, a filmmaker famous for his action films like the "Transformers" series, spoke to the Washington Post about collaborating with the up-and-coming actor.

"I have always been a filmmaker who believes in pushing boundaries," Bay shared with The Post. "Viewers are looking for innovative and original concepts. 'Skibidi' represents a new era of content that appeals to the younger audience, and I am fully committed to it."

It has spread rapidly among the youth, "Skibidi" is now a popular slang term, there are fan stories, unofficial items, and Roblox games based on the series.

Goodman, who has worked on popular movies like "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" and "Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol," as well as the show "SpongeBob SquarePants," mentioned to the Post that he has never seen anything like the success of "Skibidi Toilet" in his career.

Many parents would probably share the same opinion.
