DES Buckingham expresses his eternal appreciation to Chris Wilder for giving him the chance to be a part of Oxford United's primary staff team.

Buckingham collaborated with multiple junior teams at United before advancing to the main squad with Wilder at the beginning of the 2013/14 season.

Wilder has been named the manager of Sheffield United once again on Tuesday. He is stepping in to lead a team that is currently at the bottom of the Premier League standings.

Upon his return, he faced a crushing 2-0 home loss against Liverpool, wherein Jurgen Klopp's squad was powered by goals from Virgil van Dijk and Dominik Szoboszlai.

Buckingham is eager to observe Wilder's performance, in a scenario that appears to be challenging for the 56-year-old.

Buckingham stated that he was introduced to the first team atmosphere by someone. He had been with the club for seven years, but never with the first team before. Therefore, he was the first person to give him a chance at the first team level.

I will always appreciate that. It has enabled me to continue on my path up until now.

"It's great to witness his return, both as a coach and to his childhood team, in addition to being back in the prestigious Premier League. It will certainly be thrilling to observe the potential of his skills once more."

When asked if Wilder was the coach who left the most impact on him out of all the coaches he's worked with, Buckingham replied that he was definitely one of the top coaches and had a significant influence on him.

I have had the opportunity to work with Mickey Lewis before, and while he was great, Chris and some other individuals around the globe have also been a pleasure to work with. In fact, Chris is one of the best I have worked with so far.

Wilder has signed a deal that will keep him at Bramall Lane until the summer of 2025. He previously spent more than five years at U's, from December 2008 to January 2014.

During his initial tenure with the Blades, he successfully led the team to the top of Sky Bet League One and secured the prestigious title. Moreover, in the following years, his leadership helped the team to attain the second spot in the Championship and score a respectable ninth position in the Premier League.

People have good memories of his time with United. He helped the club get promoted through the play-offs in 2010, after being in non-league football for four years.

During an episode of The Dub podcast on BBC Radio Oxford, Buckingham shared that his former coach had a significant influence on him. He helped their team make a comeback in the challenging Conference and taught Buckingham valuable lessons as a novice coach.

When working with Chris, it's essential to assert your desires and methods firmly. It's also important to maintain an open and sincere relationship with your colleagues, where you can confront and motivate each other effectively.
