That's the end of the story. Sheffield United have managed to catch up and even the score with two goals - one lucky one from Ollie Arblaster and a fantastic chip from Gustavo Hamer. They have completely changed the narrative from last season, where they only won three league games. On the other hand, Preston continues to struggle with the same disappointing outcome: their sixth loss in a row and sixth game without scoring - something that hasn't happened since 1960.

The focus shifted to the other match, where Derby managed to equalize with Curtis Nelson. Therefore, Blackburn is leading 3-1 against Derby.

In the 70th minute, Kieffer Moore had a great opportunity thanks to some excellent play by André Brooks on the right side. He was just six yards away from the goal, right in the center, and I don't understand why it wasn't a 3-0 lead.

Sheffield United: Team Overview
Chris Wilder introduces two new full-backs to the team. Alfie Gilchrist, recently borrowed from Chelsea, has played 11 games in the Premier League. On the other side, Harrison Burrows was purchased from Peterborough and may not have Premier League experience, but has scored two goals in one game at Wembley.
"Preston's Team Overview"
When you've only acquired a single player, it's best to give him some playing time. Stefan Teitur Thordarson, hailing from Iceland and signed from Denmark, will be making his first appearance in the Preston midfield tonight.
Welcome to the start of the new football season! It's the year 2024-25, which sounds pretty exciting, right? Let's hope this season is just as unpredictable as 1974-75, when surprises were common and teams like Everton, Liverpool, Derby, Manchester United, and Aston Villa kept fans on the edge of their seats.
In the past, Sheffield United was ranked as the sixth best team in the country. However, they have now dropped down to the second division and are currently at the bottom of the standings. They begin the season with a two-point deduction for failing to make payments in their previous season at this level. The positive aspect is that the only direction they can go is up. If they secure a victory against Preston tonight and Derby only manages a draw at Blackburn, United has the opportunity to climb from the bottom to the top of the table, solely based on goal difference.
You may have noticed that many football clubs are spending exorbitant amounts on players lately. However, these two clubs appear to be the exception, as they have not spent much at all. According to Transfermarkt, Preston only spent £710,000 during the summer transfer window. This money was used to acquire Stefan Teitur Thordarson, who is a regular in central midfield for Iceland.
Ryan Lowe, the manager of Deepdale, has consistently led the team to mid-table finishes in the Championship for the past nine years, always just missing out on a promotion spot. Despite being the second longest-serving manager in the league, he may be feeling the pressure after a disappointing end to last season with five consecutive losses.
In Bramall Lane, Chris Wilder understands how to move up to a higher level in football, but has faced challenges with Sheffield United being put up for sale. He has released 16 players, including long-time players like Oli McBurnie and Oliver Norwood, and has signed six new players for £4.5m.
The majority of the money was spent on a promising young left-back from Peterborough named Harrison Burrows, with the remainder going towards an experienced player from Bournemouth named Kieffer Moore, who had a successful stint at Ipswich in the Premier League. Sheffield United received a substantial parachute payment of £43m, which has led to speculation that they are either saving the funds for future use or considering making a last-minute move for Raheem Sterling.
The games will start at 8pm (UK time). I will be providing live updates for one game and keeping an eye on the other. Stay tuned for the teams. In the meantime, check out Louise Taylor's in-depth Championship guide.
