On Tuesday, Sheffield United experienced a disappointing loss against another struggling team in the Premier League, Luton Town. In the final 13 minutes of the game, Jack Robinson and Anis Ben Slimane both unintentionally scored goals for their opponents, causing Sheffield United to surrender their lead and ultimately lose 3-2 at their home stadium, Bramall Lane.

Alfie Doughty scored the first goal for Luton in the first half. However, the home team had a better performance in the second half and managed to turn the game around. Oli McBurnie scored a goal, and Anel Ahmedhodzic achieved his first-ever Premier League goal.

After putting in much effort to take the lead, United unfortunately lost it in a harsh way. Robinson accidentally flicked a cross into his team's own goal, while Ben Slimane unknowingly deflected a shot into their own net.

Andros Townsend, the Luton winger, described the game as an emotional rollercoaster. The team was losing 2-1, causing them to consider how it would affect their overall ranking. Townsend explained that the day was hectic and unpredictable. His statement was made during an interview with Amazon Prime.

Winning consecutive games is amazing. It doesn't matter if you're a strong team or not, it's very difficult to achieve in the English Premier League.

We had the upper hand in matches with Liverpool and Arsenal, but we did not secure a win in those games. It is about time that fortune favors us.

Sam Allison was the referee in the game and he made history by becoming the first Black referee in the Premier League in 15 years. The only other Black referee to ever officiate in the league was Uriah Rennie.

Luton began and ended the match in a positive position, but had to endure a lot of intense pressure from United during the middle of the game. The manager of the home team, Chris Wilder, will be extremely angry about the way they lost.

Sheffield United had only won one out of 47 matches in the Premier League before this game where they conceded the initial goal. They had the chance to make it two out of 48.

Doughty put Luton ahead by cruising past Gustavo Hamer on their right side and slotting in a shot from a difficult angle that went between the legs of keeper Wes Foderingham.

During the Sheffield United match, defender Auston Trusty attempted a header, but unfortunately, the ball hit the crossbar just before halftime. However, later on in the game, the hosts managed to equalize with a goal just past the one-hour mark. It happened when Allison allowed play to continue after a potential foul on James McAtee and the ball landed perfectly for McBurnie to score his third goal of the season. It was a well-deserved point for the team.

The team playing on their own turf got ahead and kept their dominance going in the latter half. Luton was unsuccessful in getting rid of a cross and following a chaotic scene in the penalty area, Ahmedhodzic put the ball in the net for his first goal in the Premier League.

However, Luton managed to equalize once again with only 13 minutes left on the clock. This occurred when Robinson tried to clear a header, but ended up accidentally scoring an own goal. Later on, a pass inside the box ricocheted off Ben Slimane and ended up going into the goal, which secured the win for Luton.

"We wasted our opportunity," Wilder stated. "We managed to score first. However, we failed to prevent a cross from reaching its target. We were positioned too close to our goal line and as a result, we allowed them to score. Situations like these are bound to occur when you stay too defensive."

Our failure was due to our defensive approach and formation. While it may seem like bad luck, it's not. We were responsible for losing the game.

During the game, Carlton Morris, who plays for Luton as a striker, reported an occurrence to the match officials.

He stated that he overheard something in the audience's front row and believed it was necessary to report it immediately, but he did not provide further details.

Luton is still in the 18th spot on the leaderboard, but they are now only one point away from securing a safe spot. However, Sheffield United is still stuck at the bottom with only nine points to their name after playing 19 matches. This loss has significantly affected their chances of staying in the league.
