10 Elgin-Inverness trains cancelled because of Storm Bert
Storm Bert Leads To Inverness-Elgin Train Cancellations
Posted: 09:33 AM, November 23, 2024
Storm Bert has led to the cancellation of 10 trains between Inverness and Elgin due to newly imposed speed limits.
The trains from Inverness to Elgin scheduled for 11:44 AM, 1:30 PM, 4:22 PM, 6:58 PM, and 8:37 PM have all been called off.
The Elgin to Inverness trains at 12:36 PM, 2:25 PM, 6:02 PM, 8:24 PM, and 10:15 PM have also been affected.
In a statement regarding the cancellations, ScotRail explained that they were caused by a speed limit imposed due to extreme weather conditions.
Several trains running between Inverurie and Aberdeen are also impacted on that route for the same reason.
Nonetheless, certain services will still operate the complete route between Inverness and Aberdeen, ensuring that all stations remain accessible, albeit at a lower frequency than usual. Additionally, some of these trains may feature fewer carriages than normal.
In another part of the North, ScotRail has informed travelers on the Far North Line that train services will be suspended between Georgemas Junction and Thurso after midday today. This includes trains that depart before that time. Instead, replacement buses will be available to transport passengers between Thurso and Georgemas Junction.
Trains traveling from Inverness to Wick and vice versa will continue to operate as usual, although there will be some speed limits in effect.
Once again, this interruption is caused by speed limitations on the track.
At the moment of writing, there were no reported cancellations for trains running on the Kyle Line and the Highland Mainline.
