British Painter Sarah Cunningham Missing In London
British artist Sarah Cunningham has gone missing in London.
The Lisson Gallery, which represents Cunningham, shared on Instagram Sunday that she was last spotted at 2:30 a.m. on November 2 on Jamestown Road in Camden. Cunningham's brother, Anthony, also posted on X, stating that she was “last seen leaving her apartment building” on that street and has been officially declared missing.
In a comment to ARTnews, the gallery mentioned that they learned about Cunningham's disappearance on the afternoon of November 2, noting she was last seen in a black top, black skirt, and black Converse shoes.
"We urge anyone who may have seen or heard anything, or has information about Sarah's location, to get in touch with us or the London Metropolitan Police by calling 101 as soon as possible. We're coordinating with her family and the police regarding this matter (crime reference: 5483). Our priority is her safety, and we appreciate any information that could assist us."
The posters featuring Cunningham indicate that she stands at 5 feet 3 inches tall, is 31 years old, and has a slender physique.
The abstract artist from London earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Loughborough University and completed a Master’s in Painting at the Royal College of Art in 2022, where she was honored with the Ali H. Alkazzi Scholarship Award. Cunningham also took part in the La Wayaka Current Artist Residency in Armila, a quaint town located in Panama’s Guna Yala region. Her oil paintings have been showcased in exhibitions across various cities, including Aspen, Berlin, Los Angeles, New York, and Vancouver, featuring at galleries like Almine Rech, Max Hetzler, and CICA Vancouver.
Cunningham held her inaugural solo exhibition at Lisson's Los Angeles venue last summer. Additionally, her artwork was featured in a group exhibition titled "Accordion Fields" at the gallery's London site from February 23 to May 24. Her first solo display with the gallery, named "The Crystal Forest," launched in July.
