A body has been discovered during the search for an artist who disappeared in Camden over the weekend.
Sarah Cunningham, a well-known artist aged 31, was last spotted in north London at approximately 3am on Saturday. Her family reported her missing later that same day.
On Monday, the Metropolitan Police announced that officers had notified the woman's family about an incident involving a fatality on the train tracks at a nearby Tube station.
The authorities have not officially identified the body, and they mentioned that while the death is considered unexpected, it is not currently regarded as suspicious.
In a post made at 5:30 PM on Saturday, which garnered close to 500,000 views on the social media platform X, Anthony Cunningham explained that his sister was last spotted exiting an apartment building on Jamestown Road, near where Regent’s Canal meets Camden High Street.
Mr. Cunningham encouraged anyone who had any information to step forward and contact the police.
The Lisson Gallery in London, which has showcased Ms. Cunningham's artwork, took to Instagram to encourage anyone with information to reach out to the Metropolitan Police. They provided a description of Ms. Cunningham, noting that she stands at 5 feet 3 inches and was last seen in a black top, black skirt, and Converse sneakers.
There were claims that Ms. Cunningham was spotted getting into a dark Vauxhall car, but authorities later determined that it was not her.
In a recent announcement, Scotland Yard informed that emergency services were summoned after receiving reports of an incident involving a person on the tracks at Chalk Farm Underground station shortly after 1 a.m. on Monday.
"The statement mentioned that Sarah's family has been notified about this update as we wait for official confirmation."
They have requested that their privacy be honored during this challenging period. Officers from the Metropolitan Police are collaborating with their counterparts in the British Transport Police to investigate the situation.
The death is considered surprising; however, there are currently no indications that it is suspicious.
Ms. Cunningham was honored with the Ali H Alkazzi Scholarship Award from the Royal College of Art. Her artwork has been displayed around the world, including in cities like New York and Los Angeles. She has just come back from Seoul, where Burberry featured her work in an exhibition.
