Sad news from Los Angeles as it has been reported that Sam Rubin, a well-known entertainment journalist for KTLA, has passed away at the age of 64.

A person close to the station has confirmed that he passed away due to a heart attack at his residence on Friday (10 May) after completing his scheduled "Morning News" segment.

The news has been shared that Sam Rubin has passed away and KTLA 5 is extremely saddened by the news. Sam was well-known in the local news and entertainment industry for many years, as well as being a regular on Los Angeles morning TV. He had a kind and caring nature which touched everyone he met, along with a contagious laugh and charming personality. Above all, Sam was a devoted family man who cherished his roles as a husband and father. Our hearts go out to Sam's family during this challenging time.

Rubin was born in San Diego back in 1960. He completed his Bachelor of Arts in American Studies and Rhetoric from Occidental College in 1982.

In 1991, he became a part of KTLA. Throughout his time at the news station, he earned several News Emmys and Golden Mike Awards for his work. Additionally, he received recognition for his career achievements from the Southern California Broadcasters Association.

Over the course of many years working for the network, he was able to connect with an enormous audience and become a well-known figure in the entertainment industry. His interviews featured a variety of accomplished actors, filmmakers and rising talent.

Frank Buckley, a close friend and colleague of Rubin, shared the heart-breaking news of his passing on live TV. He made a statement saying that the Sam we saw on TV was the same Sam off-screen.

We will always remember the man who shared his mornings with us on TV and those he collaborated with at KTLA.

Sook expressed his condolences on the loss of Sam, an esteemed figure in Los Angeles and the entertainment sector, who was well-respected amongst our colleagues at Nexstar. Our thoughts are with his family and the KTLA family, as we grieve this significant loss. Sam's absence will be felt deeply.

Everyone in Hollywood is familiar with Sam Rubin and he has an extensive circle of admirers. Mark Kriski, the KTLA Morning News weather presenter, fondly remembered Sam on television and referred to him as a close acquaintance.

In addition to his work on KTLA, Rubin was a regular contributor on the BBC and carried out numerous radio and television broadcasts in Australia.

Together with Richard Taylor, he wrote two biographies. One of them was about the previous First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and it was called "Jackie: A Lasting Impression". The second biography was about the actor Mia Farrow.

Rubin's wife, Leslie, and four offspring continue to live on.
