ITV's This Morning pays tribute to reporter Sam Rubin after shock death
The entertainment presenter had been featured on the morning program of ITV since 2016.
On Monday, Ben Shephard, who co-hosts This Morning, honored the memory of his dear friend and colleague, Sam Rubin, who passed away at the age of 64 last week.
Rubin, a veteran journalist from the US, appeared frequently on ITV's This Morning from 2016 onward. He also worked as a news anchor for KTLA in California before passing away.
At the start of This Morning, Shephard expressed his sorrow to the audience and disclosed the unfortunate news of their beloved Hollywood correspondent passing away. He mentioned that it was a tough moment for everyone.
He remarked that for many years, people everywhere welcomed him warmly as a veteran reporter from Hollywood who was known for his amiable demeanor.
During the show, Cat Deeley, who co-hosted it, stated that Sam was a well-known figure in Hollywood who won multiple Emmy awards. His unique fashion sense made him a huge success in the industry and celebrities adored him for it when they saw him walking the red carpet, as he was charming and well-liked by everyone.
For more than 30 years, he rose and shone alongside Tinseltown on the US television channel KTLA, cementing his fame as a household name.
On the morning show, a video segment was aired featuring the KTLA crew who were emotional as they announced the passing of someone.
Shephard expressed that the team must have considered him very dear, just as they did in their group, and his absence will be greatly felt.
We send our condolences and sympathies to Sam's KTLA colleagues, as well as his beloved spouse Leslie and their four children during this difficult time.
The TV show showcased Rubin's conversations with former hosts Phillip Schofield, Holly Willoughby, Eamonn Holmes, and Ruth Langsford. It also featured actor Tom Hanks praising him during a red carpet event.
Sam was a person who had a great understanding of the entertainment industry. He was both charming and highly skilled, and his absence is deeply felt by everyone at This Morning, according to Shephard.
When you take a retrospective look at all those incredible scenes, it's easy to understand why he was adored by numerous individuals.
Ross King, a reporter from LA who has previously worked for TV shows such as Lorraine, Good Morning Britain, and KTLA, also appeared on the show. He praised Rubin for being supportive and offering valuable insights.
King stated that the person in question would attempt to persuade and urge you to do extremely unconventional actions. Additionally, they would attempt to intentionally cause you to encounter difficulties and then deny any responsibility for their actions.
"He possessed a vast amount of experience, which is uncommon in the business world. As you know, there are moments where we all have to improvise due to the uncertainty of events or the arrival of unexpected guests, much like performing a tap dance on a red carpet."
"You may not be familiar with certain individuals, but Sam possessed a remarkable skill of identifying them."
Expressing his feelings, King stated: "I wish that Sammy, you'd see how much love surrounds you from above because it's truly extraordinary. Sammy enjoyed being himself and being in front of the camera, and was really beloved."
I hope he is able to comprehend the level of admiration and affection the industry has for him. It's remarkable how much people are discussing him, which has become a significant headline, and the sorrow expressed by those in the industry and his fellow stars who cared for him.
Celebrated Hollywood figures such as Jamie Lee Curtis, Tom Hanks, Reese Witherspoon, William Shatner, Ben Stiller, and Ryan Reynolds have shown their respect for the late journalist by honoring his life.
