North-east Sam Fender fans gutted after Glasgow gig cancelled last minute
The rock musician from Newcastle canceled their performance on Tuesday just as attendees were making their way to the venue.
Fans of Sam Fender in the northeast were extremely disappointed when the popular rocker called off his much-awaited concert just hours before it was scheduled to begin.
The artist known for "Seventeen Going Under" was slated to perform tonight at Glasgow's OVO Hydro but had to cancel at the last minute because of being unwell.
Fender turned to social media to announce the news, conveying his heartfelt sorrow.
Although he tried his best, he expressed that he was "devastated" to share the news of the cancellation. After a medical examination, doctors recommended that he refrain from performing due to a "bleeding vocal cord."
The news hit fans in the north hard, leaving them feeling devastated as they heard about it while on their way to the concert.
A music enthusiast from Westhill mentioned that she and her friends took time off from work to go to the concert.
She mentioned, "I had tickets for last night's show, but they were for seated areas. So when I got the chance to grab standing tickets for the second date, it was awesome!"
"I sold my tickets for the show last night, and now I won’t be able to attend. I had non-refundable train and hotel reservations, and I only learned about this because I follow Sam on Instagram."
I didn't receive any notification from the venue or Ticketmaster regarding the cancellation until two and a half hours after it had already been shared on Sam Fender's social media.
"I really hope they’ll reschedule it. I'm really disappointed that I won’t be able to attend the concert tonight, especially since I took time off work for it."
Another concert attendee from Granite City, 23-year-old Ashleigh Newton, mentioned, "I asked for some time off from work so I could attend the concert."
"I also purchased a train ticket back to Aberdeen. I went ahead and bought a bus ticket to Glasgow too, since we had already traveled that far before the cancellation."
Sam Fender Apologizes For Show Cancellation
In a message shared online, he mentioned, "As many of you are aware, I've been dealing with the flu for the past few days here in Glasgow and Newcastle."
No matter how strained my voice was, I did everything I could to get it ready last night to deliver the best performance possible.
"Today, I underwent an ENT procedure where they used a camera to look down my throat, and unfortunately, I've ended up with a hemorrhage on my right vocal cord. I’m truly devastated."
"This has been the most amazing tour up to now, and all I want is to stand up and perform for you again this evening."
I’ve been told by two different ear, nose, and throat specialists that singing tonight could seriously harm my voice. They’ve recommended that I should rest my vocal cords and avoid speaking for an extended period until I recover.
"I've followed all the rules for this tour and kept things really disciplined, almost like a monk. It's such a bummer."
I sincerely apologize to everyone heading out tonight.
“We're working on finding a way to rearrange the schedule for everyone, so stay tuned for updates.”
"Options To Reschedule After Gig Cancellation"
After the cancellation, the venue sent an email to ticket holders suggesting that the event might be rescheduled for a later date.
It states: "Regrettably, the Sam Fender concerts scheduled for tonight in Glasgow and this Friday in Newcastle have been called off due to health issues."
The event organizers are exploring the possibility of rescheduling these shows, so we’ll provide you with more details soon. In the meantime, please keep your tickets.
