Sam Altman is a tech entrepreneur, investor, and computer programmer from the United States. He is best known for his role as the President of Y Combinator, the world-renowned startup accelerator. Altman is also a board member of numerous companies, including Reddit and Airbnb, and is involved in various philanthropic initiatives.

Career and Achievements

Altman started his career as a software engineer and co-founded Loopt, a location-based social networking app. He also served as the CEO of the company until it was acquired by Green Dot Corporation in 2012. Following this, Altman went on to become an investor and advisor to several startups, including Airbnb.

In 2014, Altman was appointed as the President of Y Combinator, succeeding Paul Graham. Under his leadership, Y Combinator has grown substantially, funding and mentoring several successful startups such as Dropbox, Stripe, and Reddit.

Aside from his professional achievements, Altman is involved in philanthropic work, supporting organizations like GiveDirectly, the Machine Intelligence Research Institute, and OpenAI.
