Paris 2024 Olympic Medal Race Results

In the Olympics, there are different ways to determine the winners of the sailing events. Each event has a Medal Race or Series that is used to award the final podium medals. There are three unique systems in place to decide which athletes will receive the medals.

Three strategies to achieve an Olympic sailing award

In the end, the 49er Men's final leaders emerged after the medal race.

GOLD went to Diego Botin and Florian Trittel Paul with 70 points, SILVER was awarded to Isaac McHardie and William McKenzie from New Zealand with 82 points, while BRONZE was taken by Ian Barrows and Hans Henken from the USA with 88 points. In the 4th position were Robert Dickson and Sean Waddilove from Ireland with 91 points, followed by Dominik Buksak and Szymon Wierzbicki from Poland in 5th place with 93 points. Bart Lambriex and Floris van de Werken from the Netherlands came in 6th with 99 points, and James Peters and Fynn Sterritt from Great Britain also had 99 points but placed 7th. Sebastien Schneiter and Arno de Planta from Switzerland finished in 8th place with 104 points, while Sime Fantela and Mihovil Fantela from Croatia secured 9th place with 107 points. Hernan Umpierre and Fernando Diz from Uruguay rounded out the top 10 with 110 points.

In the final round of competition for the 49erFX Women category, the top leaders have emerged after the medal race.

GOLD went to Odile van Aanholt and Annette Duetz with 74 points. SILVER was awarded to Vilma Bobeck and Rebecca Netzler from Sweden with 76 points. BRONZE went to Sarah Steyaert and Charline Picon from France with 79 points. The fourth place was secured by Helene Naess and Marie Roenningen from Norway with 92 points. In fifth place, we have Jana Germani and Giorgia Bertuzzi from Italy with 95 points. Marla Bergmann and Hanna Wille from Germany took sixth place with 98 points. Jo Aleh and Molly Meech from New Zealand came in seventh with 109 points. Martine Grael and Kahena Kunze from Brazil finished in eighth place with 112 points. Olivia Price and Evie Haseldine from Australia took ninth place with 120 points. Rounding out the top ten was Stephanie Roble and Maggie Shea from the USA with 125 points. Freya Black & Saskia Tidey from Great Britain finished in 16th place.
