Manchester United's Ruud van Nistelrooy leaves stint as interim head coach
Manchester United has announced that Ruud van Nistelrooy has stepped down from his position as interim head coach.
His final match was a 3-0 victory for Manchester United against Leicester City at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Van Nistelrooy, who stepped in as the temporary coach following Erik ten Hag's dismissal at the end of last month, is being succeeded by Ruben Amorim. Manchester United announced that Amorim arrived at the club's training facility in Carrington today.
The club expressed their admiration for Van Nistelrooy in a statement, declaring that he "is, and will forever remain, a legend of Manchester United."
"We appreciate everything he has done and the way he has handled his responsibilities during his time with the club. He will always be warmly welcomed at Old Trafford," it continued.
The announcement mentioned that the complete coaching staff for the men's first team will be clarified in the near future.
Amorim, 39, was welcomed by CEO Omar Berrada, sporting director Dan Ashworth, and technical director Jason Wilcox upon his arrival in Manchester this morning after flying in from Beja, Portugal.
The new coach will lead his first match against Ipswich Town on November 24. He plans to meet with important staff members before he receives his visa and officially begins his role.

Amorim, formerly the manager of the Portuguese club Sporting, has agreed to a contract that will run until June 2027, with the possibility of extending it for an additional year.
According to Sky Sports News, Amorim was the sole coach that Manchester United engaged with during their search for a new manager.
It is believed that United paid Sporting an additional €1 million (£840,000) in addition to the €10 million (£8.4 million) buyout clause to secure an early release from the 30-day notice period.

Amorim, who previously played as a midfielder for Benfica and the Portugal national team, hung up his boots in 2017. He then started his coaching career at Braga two years after retiring.
He joined Sporting in 2020 and guided them to their first league championship in 19 years in 2021. He accomplished this feat again with the Lisbon club earlier this year.
