Rupert Murdoch, a wealthy and influential figure in the media industry, has recently tied the knot for the fifth time. The wedding took place in his vineyard located in California.

On Saturday, the 93-year-old Mr Murdoch got married to his new spouse Elena Zhukova, who is 67 years old and had a career as a Russian biologist before retiring.

It was said that he had started seeing Ms Zhukova not long after breaking off his engagement to ex-police chaplain Ann Lesley Smith in April 2023.

Mr. Murdoch, who was born in Australia and has a total of six children, holds the title of chairman emeritus at News Corporation. This company is responsible for owning a few well-known media outlets such as Fox News, the Wall Street Journal, the Sun, and the Times.

After leaving his position as the chairman of Fox and News Corp in the previous year, he handed the responsibility to his son Lachlan who is currently leading and managing both the companies.

It is believed that Mr Murdoch and Ms Zhukova crossed paths at a gathering organized by his former spouse, Wendi Deng, who is of Chinese descent.

He was previously married to three other women - Patricia Booker who worked as a flight attendant in Australia, Anna Mann who was a journalist born in Scotland, and Jerry Hall who is a model and actress in the United States.

Before this, Ms Zhukova was wedded to Alexander Zhukov, a billionaire in the oil industry from Russia. Meanwhile, their daughter Dasha, who is a famous socialite and entrepreneur, used to be the wife of Roman Abramovich, another Russian oligarch, until the year 2017.

Rupert Murdoch started his profession in Australia during the 1950s. Later on, he acquired the News of the World and the Sun papers in the United Kingdom in 1969.

Afterward, he bought various American magazines like the New York Post and the Wall Street Journal.

He introduced Fox News in 1996 and it currently holds the top spot as the most viewed television news channel in the United States.

Mr. Murdoch is still the owner of numerous local, national, and international media outlets via News Corp, which was established in 2013.

Throughout his career, he has faced various controversies, and one of the most devastating incidents was the infamous phone-hacking scandal in the UK. It was revealed that the News of the World had accessed the voicemails of the late Milly Dowler, a young schoolgirl who was murdered.

In September of last year, Mr. Murdoch made it known that he was transitioning away from his prominent position within his media empire. He put his son Lachlan in charge and later assumed the title of Chairman Emeritus at Fox and News Corp.
