In November, forty students from Fernhurst Primary School had a remarkable experience at The Royal Albert Hall as they participated in an unforgettable choral event. Alongside 600 other students from around the UK, they sang their hearts out, helping to raise over £80,000 for Barnardo’s children’s charity.
With the help of music instructor Ana Lazar, the kids practiced six songs at school to get ready for the event.
In London, the day kicked off with practice sessions led by the renowned Benjamin Pope, who motivated the young vocalists. A highlight of the event was a stunning rendition of the song "Proud," featuring the talented singer Heather Small.
Fourth grader Hunter really captured everyone's attention during his interview with Natasha Kaplinsky. He shared that his most enjoyable moment of the day was “watching The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra,” which brought enthusiastic applause from the audience.

Hunter was given a gingerbread figure to commemorate the experience and chose to call it "Albert" to pay homage to the legendary venue where they performed. This event was not just an impressive milestone for the kids at Fernhurst Primary School, but it also showcased how music can unite communities.
Principal Jennifer Thornton expressed her excitement, saying, “We were thrilled to provide our students at Fernhurst with this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to take the stage in front of a big audience.”
Traveling to London and performing at the iconic Royal Albert Hall was an incredible experience for them. We hope this opportunity encourages them to pursue their dreams and talents as they journey through life.
