Peer Suspended For 'cowardice Or Laziness' Post
A politician from the Labour party has been temporarily removed from their position following comments they made about a candidate who pulled out of local debate events due to safety worries. The politician referred to the candidate as either being afraid or lacking in effort.
On a social media platform, Lord Cashman expressed his views regarding Rosie Duffield's recent statement about the challenges she faces while attending hustings due to persistent online harassment. Rosie Duffield is running again for the position of Labour MP for Canterbury.
On Sunday, the ex-EastEnders performer and Labour representative expressed their sincere regret for their post and made an unconditional apology.
Sir Keir Starmer, who leads the Labour party, informed journalists that the remark made was highly unsuitable and the withdrawal of the whip happened very quickly.
This indicates that Lord Cashman will hold a position as an impartial member of the House of Lords, without being associated with any political party.
Ms Duffield, who has supported the rights of women and spaces reserved for females, has previously received threats of violence and undergone several cases of mistreatment for her beliefs on sexuality and gender.
The woman expressed that she will hold events in the area that are safe and trustworthy, so that people living in the same geographical region can have an opportunity to ask her their questions.
Ms. Duffield has expressed her disappointment with the lack of support from the Labour party in regards to her stance on transgender matters. Due to online threats to her safety, Ms. Duffield decided not to attend the 2021 Labour party conference.
In the previous month, she expressed her dissatisfaction with Sir Keir, stating that he did not offer any sort of apology during their conversation. This came after she informed a whip that she had not been conversed with for two and a half years.
