Labour Lord suspended after 'lazy or frit' comment about Rosie Duffield who cancelled debates over trolling

Rosie Duffield

A member of the Labour party who referred to a female MP candidate as "cowardly or idle" because she chose to cancel general election debates due to concerns for her safety has been temporarily removed from their position.

Sources within the Labour party have confirmed that Michael Cashman, who was previously an actor on the TV show EastEnders and served as a member of the European Parliament, has had his parliamentary privilege to the whip removed as of last Sunday.

Ms. Duffield is currently working to keep her Labour position in the Canterbury constituency and has been a strong advocate for women's rights and the protection of female-only spaces.

She declared on social media last Friday that she was unable to attend the local hustings leading up to the General Election on July 4th due to the ongoing harassment that she has been receiving.

The Stonewall co-creator expressed remorse for his previous remark on the post by writing "A mistake. Or indolent," to which Lord Cashman responded.

The Minister for Women and Equalities, Kemi Badenoch, joined the dispute by alleging that the Labour party was engaging in "bullying and mistreatment" of its own members.

Mr Streeting, who is the shadow health secretary, expressed his disagreement with Michael Cashman during an interview with Times Radio on Sunday.

"It's totally unjust and I'm deeply worried that Rosie is unable to take part in the hustings and has to modify her behavior due to the harassment she's facing."

This is completely intolerable and not acceptable. It is also not okay for Nigel Farage to be subjected to abuse.

I consider Michael and Rosie as my buddies and this is the exact type of separation that I have been putting in a great effort to reconcile and recover from.

Last week, Ms. Duffield explained that the choice to cancel the local hustings was a tough one. She claimed that her feelings of security and overall well-being were impacted by the behavior of a small group of obsessed individuals.

Before, she shared that she had utilized £2,000 to pay for security personnel during her campaign.

Lord Cashman expressed regret on Twitter for a previous post in which he discussed the Labour nominee for Canterbury. He fully apologized for his actions.

I completely comprehend any grievances that may be conveyed to the Labour Party.
