Cristiano Ronaldo shared an emotional message with Ruben Amorim, the new manager of Manchester United, expressing his thoughts about the club's latest leader.

Amorim officially took on the role of United's new manager at the beginning of the week and gave his first interview with the club on Friday after coming over from Sporting Lisbon.

The 39-year-old has several similarities with Ronaldo, and the iconic striker seems thrilled to see one of his fellow countrymen getting an opportunity at one of the biggest football clubs in the world.

The two players are of the same age and both transitioned from Sporting Lisbon to Manchester. Ronaldo made the move at just 18, having caught the eye of Sir Alex Ferguson. They also played together on the Portuguese national team.

Ronaldo is still shining as a top player with Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, whereas Amorim hung up his boots in 2017 to pursue a career as a head coach, where he has really excelled.

He takes over from Erik ten Hag, with whom Ronaldo had a notable fallout before leaving United for the second time in his career. Amorim's first job will be to address the disorder created by his predecessor.

Ronaldo (on the right) and Amorim (second from the right) used to be teammates on the Portuguese national squad.

Ronaldo has shown his support for Amorim joining Old Trafford.

Ronaldo has officially endorsed Amorim's arrival, allowing his fellow countryman to start in his new position with the support of United's INEOS sports executive team.

After netting a bicycle kick during Portugal's 5-1 victory over Poland on Friday night, Ronaldo expressed his well wishes, saying, "I wish the best of luck to Man United and Ruben Amorim in everything they do."

In the meantime, Manchester United's captain Bruno Fernandes netted a goal during Portugal's recent Nations League win. Amorim will be eager for the midfielder to come back to Old Trafford in good shape before his first game as manager.

Amorim has now disclosed the two main factors that motivated his relocation to Manchester, despite being pursued by other prominent European clubs seeking to bring him on board.

Expressing gratitude towards those who chose him as Manchester United's seventh permanent manager since Sir Alex Ferguson left in 2013, Amorim shared with MUTV: "To start with, I sensed a strong bond with the club. And when I mention the club, I think everyone is aware of what Manchester United represents."

I really notice a bond with the members of the club, and that means a lot to me. It's essential for me to collaborate with people I enjoy and feel a genuine connection with.

He emphasized that the club's rich history is another important factor. He mentioned that everyone at the club is eager for success, and he believes this is the right place for him, as it offers the chance to be part of something unique and meaningful, rather than just being another member. That aspect is something he truly appreciates.
