Luis de la Fuente has dismissed worries about the fitness of Rodri and Alvaro Morata following their injury scares during Spain's initial match of Euro 2024.

In the latter half of the match against Croatia at the Olympiastadion in Berlin, the duo was removed from the field due to what seemed to be potential injury concerns. The team emerged victorious with a score of 3-0.

The captain of the team, Morata, scored the first goal of the game. Meanwhile, the Manchester City midfielder, Rodri, plays a crucial role in how De la Fuente structures the team's style of play.

When questioned later about the physical conditions of the two athletes, De la Fuente commented, "It wasn't anything major. Morata received a blow, and Rodri was feeling tired due to the amount of work he had done."

Asking for the change was a wise decision, as we aim to have all our players in optimal condition for the ultimate phase of this contest.

Morata told reporters at a later time that the injury was only a minor one.

De la Fuente is aware that there is still a lot of work to be done ahead of their upcoming match against defending champions, Italy on Thursday.

"We are delighted with our performance but we remain cautious, as we understand how unpredictable football can be," he shared with La 1. "Our team showed great potential and competitiveness, which is a promising start. However, we are well aware that this is just the beginning of a lengthy journey. We are thrilled with our progress, but we remain calm and circumspect."

"Winning against Italy will be quite a formidable challenge since they are also one of the top-performing squads in Europe. Therefore, we must strive to maintain the same level of performance as we did today, if we aspire to have any opportunity of achieving victory," he further stated.

We are aware of the challenges that come with achieving victory and we have a desire to make significant progress. Our aim is to set a positive precedent for individuals in our nation to follow.
