The Wave House in Malibu belonged to Glenn and Gerry Cooper before Rod Stewart and Mo Ostin. Rod Stewart got it in the 1970s while Mo Ostin bought it in 1987.
The Coopers asked architect Harry Gesner to design their home. They love the outdoors. They are friends with Gesner.
The team discovered a spot to surf nearby Malibu Colony. Gesner went surfing there for two days and looked at the land. He used a 12-foot balsa wood surfboard to draw the house with a grease pencil.
Glenn Cooper said that Gesner did well.
Cooper spoke to Lisa Germany about how they felt connected to nature. They didn't feel separated from it. They felt like they were a part of it. They felt the same way about the changing moods of nature.
The difficulties of nature always made us alert and conscious. The unpredictable tides made us recognize how fragile life can be. Nature motivated us to improve and tackle each day with courage.
The Wave House has three rooflines that look like waves. It was made in 1963. The shingles on the roof look like fish scales. People like the Wave House in California. It's an example of midcentury architecture.
The Mo Ostin estate put their house up for sale in June. Mo Ostin used to be a music executive who found famous artists like Jimi Hendrix and The Kinks. The estate is selling for $49.5 million.
