Robbie Fitzgibbon represented Great Britain in senior competitions.

A past athlete from Great Britain has passed away at the age of 28, according to his running club.

Robbie Fitzgibbon, a runner specializing in middle distances, has proudly represented his nation in numerous international competitions.

His team, Brighton Phoenix, referred to him as "one of our most valued athletes."

In a statement, it was expressed that he was "a companion to many and an inspiring influence for everyone fortunate enough to have known him."

It also mentioned, "Robbie truly represented what it means to be a runner, reflecting all the qualities we cherish at Phoenix."

Robbie Fitzgibbon started with Brighton Phoenix as a young athlete, and thanks to his "commitment, tireless effort, and resolve," he progressed to become a senior international competitor for Great Britain, according to the club.

In 2019, he participated in the senior indoor European Championships, making it to the final. He also took part in multiple Diamond League events afterwards.

His coach and mentor, Joel Kidger, stated, “Robbie had natural ability, but what stood out even more was his dedication and strong work ethic.”

He was tough, resolute, and typically achieved his goals.

The Brighton Phoenix club referred to Robbie Fitzgibbon (in the middle) as "one of our most valued competitors."

Charlie Grice, who trained alongside him, honored his memory by saying, "You were a genuine warrior who always put forth your best effort."

In the past few years, Fitzgibbon has shifted his focus away from middle-distance track events and has begun competing in long-distance races instead.

He was getting ready to participate in the 2025 Brighton Marathon to support the charity Mind.

The club has announced that his father, Robin, will take his place in the race.
