HRH The Prince of Wales surprises Rob Burrow and Kevin Sinfield with their CBEs

Rob Burrow

During his visit to Headingley Stadium in Leeds, HRH The Prince of Wales presented Rob Burrow and Kevin Sinfield, patrons of the MND Association, with their CBEs, which came as a surprise to them.

Two outstanding individuals named Rob and Kevin were recently honored with CBEs in the latest New Year Honours List for their exceptional contributions towards raising awareness for motor neurone disease (MND). In recognition of their remarkable efforts in generating funds and promoting MND awareness, these two individuals were personally acknowledged by Prince William on the 11th of January. The Prince reportedly lauded their "remarkable" accomplishments.

Rob's spouse Lindsey, their three kids named Macy, Maya, and Jackson, and Jayne, Kevin's spouse, were all observing proudly.

During a conversation with Rob and Kevin in the change room of their previous club, Prince William expressed:

Today, I have some exclusive stuff for you that I brought along. I verified with Kevin beforehand if you would prefer to go to London to receive it. Nevertheless, if it's alright with you, I have your CBEs here with me that I can hand over today while you're in your hometown, Leeds, and surrounded by your loved ones. I believe it's an appropriate day to do so.

Rob, we want to express our gratitude and admiration for the outstanding job you've accomplished. Your work has been an inspiration and we are all thrilled for your achievements. Well done!

"We've been keeping track of your situation and the funds you have been collecting, and you're making a significant impact in the lives of those with MND."

The blog post talks about HRH, The Prince of Wales. It describes his role and his achievements in the community. His influence on societal issues is a significant one, and this article highlights and commends him for it.

Upon being awarded his CBE, Rob expressed:

We are grateful to receive this recognition for the entire group of people affected by MND. Such occasions help us focus attention on the illness, boost public knowledge, and ultimately generate resources to combat the ailment and support those who battle it and their loved ones.

"It was great to have the presence of His Royal Highness in Headingley. We were truly grateful for the opportunity to meet him and chat with him. It was a delightful experience for me, especially because I got the chance to reunite with my loved ones."

The former players of Leeds Rhinos have been putting in a lot of effort since Rob's diagnosis with MND in December 2019 to collect money and create awareness for the MND community, which involves the MND Association. The money that has been raised has helped the Association in enhancing support for individuals who have been impacted by MND, especially for the youth and children. Additionally, more funds have been allocated for research to bring us closer to a cure and effective treatments.

We are extremely happy that Rob Burrow and Kevin Sinfield, who are supporters of our Association, have been bestowed with CBEs by HRH The Prince of Wales, which is well-deserved. It is remarkable to see the amount of work and effort that Rob, Kevin, as well as their loved ones and associates, have committed to bring awareness and obtain crucial funds for motor neurone disease (MND) following Rob's own diagnosis with the disorder. It is especially moving that this momentous occasion should happen in a location that holds a special significance for both Rob and Kevin.

Tanya Curry is the main boss of the organization called MND Association.
