A former soldier has used his own money to illuminate a memorial dedicated to those who fought in wars, in order to commemorate their sacrifices during Remembrance events.
John Davies, a 39-year-old man hailing from Aberystwyth, expressed that it's crucial to pay tribute and show admiration towards those who were no longer with us.
Mr Davies, who has previously served in Afghanistan, has paid an estimated amount of £3,500 to install a lighting and audio system in the war memorial situated in the local town.
The local government of Ceredigion affirmed that the problems experienced with their illumination mechanism are going to be addressed and fixed in the shortest amount of time possible.
The Remembrance Sunday ceremony for Wales is happening at the Welsh National War Memorial in Cardiff at 10:30 AM Greenwich Mean Time, and First Minister Mark Drakeford will be present at the occasion.
Memorial events are taking place in different locations such as Llandudno, Bangor, Powys, Swansea, Wrexham and other places to honor the individuals who sacrificed their lives in wars.

According to John Davies, he takes great pride in the war memorial because he lost a "very dear friend" while serving in the war.
A dude named Mr. Davies enlisted in the Army nine years ago, where he worked in the Royal Welsh. For the upcoming remembrance event and procession, he kindly lent a generator, lighting system, and PA system.
Perhaps I feel more strongly about this day because I served in the military and unfortunately lost some of my fellow comrades during my deployment. One of them in particular was a dear and intimate friend of mine, so this day holds special significance for me as it's a time to honor their memory.
The ex-soldier mentioned that the present location required significant improvements.
I believe that there haven't been any updates made recently. However, I reckon that with the centennial of the memorial arriving this Sunday, it is the perfect opportunity to finally modernize it. The moment is now, and we should seize it.

According to Mr. Davies, several businesses in the area made valuable contributions towards the successful operation of the lighting and sound setup.
He mentioned that it was a singular occurrence on his part, and the council was granted a year-long extension to mend the current lighting.
According to him, it is necessary to update it in order to appeal to the younger population, so that they can gain knowledge from it.
Why Wear Poppies?

On Thursday, King Charles wore a black poppy to pay tribute to black veterans during his official trip to South Korea. This symbol is used to show respect for the sacrifices made by these brave individuals.
