Last chance to register to vote in time for May elections – Sandwell Council

The people living in Sandwell are being advised to confirm that they meet the requirements to cast their vote in the May elections.

You only have until midnight on Tuesday, April 16th, to register for voting if you want to participate in the upcoming May elections.

If you haven't registered to vote yet, or if you've switched residences or changed your name since the last time you voted, you can easily register online within just five minutes. All you need is your National Insurance Number.

To cast your vote, you need to have completed the registration process, meet the minimum age requirement of 18 on the actual day of the election, and possess a British, EU, Irish, or valid Commonwealth citizenship.

You must apply before 5pm on April 17 if you want to vote by post for the May elections. If you want to appoint someone else to vote for you, the deadline for applying for a proxy vote is 5pm on April 24.

It is important for voters to remember that they need to bring a photo ID with them if they plan on voting in person at a polling station. People who do not currently have a valid photo ID can obtain a free one, but they must act fast and apply before 5pm on Wednesday, April 24th.
