Reece James is scheduled to undergo an examination on his hamstring injury next week to assess the length of time Chelsea's captain will be out of action.
Head coach Enzo Maresca mentioned that he was optimistic it was just a minor issue. The team will have to wait to find out how serious the injury is, hoping it really is just a little setback, especially considering James's challenging history with injuries.
James won't be joining Chelsea for their match against Leicester on Saturday.
The 24-year-old missed the beginning of the Premier League season due to a suspension and then went on to injure his hamstring.
James has unfortunately suffered another hamstring injury and will be out of action for a while.
On Thursday, James posted on Instagram expressing his commitment to bounce back from his recent challenges.
Chelsea is in a tense situation as they await news on the duration of Reece James's injury absence.
Enzo Maresca announced that James will be unavailable for the match against Leicester due to a hamstring issue.
James posted a bold message on Instagram in response to the news about his recent troubles.
He expressed: "This message is for those who truly grasp and have compassion for my struggles... I am incredibly grateful for you; your encouragement and thoughtful messages mean more to me than you might realize."
Just to share a bit about myself... I'm doing alright—I've had my ups and downs. I'm facing a new challenge head-on, but I'm confident that I'll emerge victorious in the end, no matter the difficulties.
Regarding James' injury, Maresca mentioned, "He experienced a sensation."
He definitely needs to be away this weekend, and after that, we'll just have to wait and see. Right now, we aren't sure how long it will be. We’ll figure it out as we go.
I understand it isn’t simple, but when he faces an injury each time, it becomes tough for him, and for me, it's even more challenging. He needs to come to terms with that and make an effort to minimize the risk as much as possible.
However, unexpected situations can arise, no matter how much you try to prevent them. This weekend, he won’t be able to participate. Unfortunately, he experienced a minor issue with his hamstring, which is a muscle problem. We prefer not to take any chances this weekend.
In the last season, James played only 10 times in the Premier League, and he had only made 16 appearances in the league the season before that.
He has played 16 times for the England national team but last appeared for the squad in March 2023.
Chelsea is set to face Leicester while sitting in third place in the Premier League standings, trailing league leaders Liverpool by nine points.
