Reece James recently posted on Instagram to share a message with his supporters following yet another injury setback.
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca announced during his press conference on Thursday that James won't be able to play in Saturday's game against Leicester because he is dealing with a hamstring issue.
James has participated in just 654 minutes of football since he became Chelsea's captain 15 months ago, and he is now facing another period off the field.
However, on Thursday night, he delivered a determined message to his followers on social media. He expressed his gratitude to fans for their support and promised to bounce back from his injury setback.
The England fullback posted on Instagram: 'I want to reach out to those who truly understand and respect what I'm experiencing... I'm really grateful to you all; your encouragement and kind messages mean more to me than you can possibly know.'
As for me, I'm managing alright. I've experienced better times, but I've also faced tougher ones. I'm ready to take on another challenge. In the end, I know I'll emerge victorious, no matter the obstacles.
Reece James expressed his gratitude to supporters and promised to recover strong after suffering another injury setback.
Enzo Maresca announced that his captain will not be available for this weekend's match against Leicester.
James has faced several injuries over the past few years and is currently out of action once more.
It's still unclear how serious James' injury is. However, Maresca seemed to suggest that him sitting out this weekend is more of a precaution, and he might be back on the field soon.
Maresca commented, "He seems to have experienced something. It's certain that he will miss this weekend's match, and after that, we'll assess the situation. Right now, we can’t determine how long he’ll be sidelined. We'll find out soon enough."
"I understand that it's tough, but every injury he suffers makes things more challenging for him, and it's even more difficult for me. He needs to come to terms with that and do his best to prevent these injuries."
"However, there are moments when unexpected things occur, despite our intentions to prevent them. This weekend, he won’t be able to participate. Unfortunately, he experienced a minor issue—a hamstring strain. It's a muscle concern, and we’d rather not take any chances this weekend."
James has been through a difficult period with injuries in recent years, leading him to miss the last two major tournaments with England as he hasn't been able to demonstrate that he's fit to play.
He was also unable to play at the beginning of this season, and last month, Maresca acknowledged that James can only participate in one game each week because he is still dealing with ongoing physical issues.
James went on to play in three consecutive league matches against Liverpool, Newcastle, and Manchester United. However, he found himself on the bench for Chelsea’s most recent match before the international break, as Maresca chose to use the full-back duo of Malo Gusto and Marc Cucurella in the 1-1 draw against Arsenal.
Gusto and Cucurella are expected to be in the starting lineup again as Chelsea heads to Leicester, the club that Maresca used to manage, for the Saturday lunchtime match.
