I was married to Rebekah Vardy...this is how I KNOW she is desperately jealous of Coleen Rooney

Rebekah Vardy

Rebekah Vardy's former husband has called her "desperate for attention," alleging that she is willing to say or do anything just to make a quick buck.

Steve Clarke, 59, who was married to Vardy for a little more than a year, stated that she is eager to remain in the spotlight and is "completely" envious of her WAG competitor, Coleen Rooney.

He shared with MailOnline: "She's simply eager to maintain her visibility and ensure her name stays in the headlines."

It's rather sad to see her commenting on I'm a Celebrity; it really highlights her jealousy towards Coleen. I can say with complete certainty that her main goal is to stay in the spotlight and keep people noticing her face and name.

He mentioned, "When you see Coleen, she's always smiling and seems really cheerful. People are drawn to her, but during Rebekah's time in the jungle, many commented on her expression that came across as unfriendly. It's tough for her to accept that people prefer Coleen and that the public doesn't show her any compassion."

Mr. Clarke commented while Vardy reignited a feud with her rival WAG Coleen in a biting column for a major newspaper, where she included several sharp remarks.

Vardy expressed her wish that Rooney would face some tough moments in the jungle, suggesting that she might have to 'eat her words' or experience some humility. More recently, she criticized BBC Radio 1 host Dean McCullough for being too friendly with Rooney during a broadcast, launching yet another fierce attack.

Vardy, 42, referred to hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly as "two narrow-minded individuals." She also commented on Coleen, calling her "the gift that keeps on giving," especially after her canoe overturned during the celebrity race to the camp.

Steve Clarke, 59, was in a marriage with Rebekah Vardy that lasted for a little over a year.

Rebekah Vardy and her spouse, Jamie Vardy, leave the Royal Courts of Justice in May 2022.

Mr. Clarke mentioned that his former wife is eager to remain in the spotlight and is absolutely envious of Coleen Rooney, who is her competitor among WAGs.

Mr. Clarke, who hails from Banbury in Oxfordshire, went through a bitter breakup with Rebekah in 2005. The couple first crossed paths in 2001 when she was employed as a secretary at his timeshare business. At the time, he had a collection of luxury vehicles, which included a Ferrari.

They resided in Oxford, then moved to London, and later lived in Cyprus.

He mentioned, "When we relocated to Cyprus, she sought the finest of everything. She desired a nanny for her children, a new vehicle, and a larger, more impressive villa. She was always looking for something greater."

I can't help but feel sympathy for Jamie Vardy. If he made £1 million each month, she wouldmanage to spend £1.5 million. It’s truly overwhelming.

He was Vardy's second spouse following her marriage to electrician Mark Godden.

Currently the director of a health and wellness firm, Mr. Clarke stated that Vardy's actions are fueled by envy of Rooney.

He mentioned, "It's clear that Rebekah feels a lot of jealousy towards Coleen and is living in her shadow. She probably dislikes that Coleen has established her own identity instead of merely being known as Mrs. Wayne Rooney."

"She has her own identity, whereas Rebekah's significance primarily stems from her marriage to a Premier League football player. This is why she has registered the trademark 'Wagatha Christie'; despite her defeat, she can still profit from it."

He acknowledged that there's significant animosity between him and his ex, with Vardy accusing him of being abusive—something he strongly refutes.

He mentioned that she thinks she might be providing a live commentary on the I'm a Celebrity show for financial gain.

Mr. Clarke expressed to MailOnline that he feels sympathy for her new spouse, Jamie, stating, "She is truly difficult to deal with."

Her former husband claims that Vardy is simply envious of Coleen and feels overshadowed by her.

Wayne Rooney and his spouse Coleen, seen in a photo from October 7, first crossed paths as teenagers while living in the Croxteth housing estate in Liverpool.

Rebekah Vardy and former Premier League player Dennis Wise participated in the reality show I'm A Celebrity in 2017.

He remarked, "Let's be honest, she has a significant legal debt to settle, so she requires the funds. If I know her, she will definitely look for ways to delay compensating Coleen for as long as possible. She felt embarrassed during the trial, and the public can easily see through her actions and intentions."

Vardy stirred up some controversy when she asserted that Mr. Clarke pressured her into giving a newspaper interview about a brief encounter she had with pop star Peter Andre. During the well-known ‘Wagatha Christie’ trial, Rooney’s legal team reached out to him, but he declined to participate.

Reflecting on their marriage, Vardy mentioned, "It quickly turned into a terrible situation—I felt afraid of him. He would dictate my actions, telling me what to do, where to go, and how to behave."

After my first marriage ended, I spent a night with Peter Andre and, in a moment of foolishness, I shared that with him. He saw an opportunity to cash in and pressured me into going public with my experience. I felt terrible about it.

They had a tumultuous relationship, breaking up and getting back together multiple times. They eventually married when she was 23 and expecting a child with another man.

A few weeks later, she welcomed her oldest daughter, Megan.

Vardy recounted, "The moment she was born, he insisted we relocate to another country. He said he had debts and wanted us to flee to Cyprus. Things quickly went south from that point. He started being aggressive towards me, and he was unfaithful and deceitful. After ten months of this, I finally managed to return to the UK with my baby after I found out he had been cheating on me."

A few weeks later, Clarke received a two-year prison sentence after being found guilty of causing a fatal crash through reckless driving. The accident resulted in the death of a father and grandfather.

Mrs. Vardy had a son named Taylor with football player Luke Foster before meeting Jamie, 37, whom she wed in May 2016.
