Real Sociedad v Barcelona live - La Liga latest as leaders Barca trail
BARCELONA LEFT REELING BY REAL SOCIEDAD'S SURPRISE VICTORY
Real Sociedad dealt Barcelona their second loss in La Liga this season, dominating the match against the league leaders in San Sebastian.
Sherlado Becker scored in the first half by finishing neatly after connecting with a flick-on. That goal turned out to be the decisive moment, even though Real Sociedad had numerous opportunities to increase their advantage.
Becker, Mikel Oyarzabal, and substitute Ander Barrenetxea all failed to score despite having excellent chances to extend the lead to 2-0, and the expected pressure from Barcelona never materialized. Remarkably, they didn't hit the target even once.
Barcelona struggled without the injured Lamine Yamal and never found their flow. Even their most promising moment, a goal from Robert Lewandowski that was controversially disallowed by VAR for offside, felt disorganized and stemmed from a lucky rebound.
The loss means Barcelona's advantage has been reduced to six points, while pursuing Real Madrid still has a game to play. Meanwhile, Real Sociedad has moved up to eighth place, marking just their second win at home this league season.
