Real Madrid player ratings vs Getafe: Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe bounce back from awful Anfield displays to close the gap on faltering La Liga
The primary attacking pair for Los Blancos made significant contributions as Carlo Ancelotti's team secured an easy victory.
Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe bounced back from their recent struggles, each scoring a goal as Real Madrid secured a 2-0 victory over a tough Getafe team on Sunday.
After a disappointing performance in the Champions League earlier in the week, the pair managed to get back on track offensively, each netting a goal in the first half. Their contributions helped secure a convincing victory, bringing Madrid within just one point of La Liga leaders Barcelona.
Real Madrid had a tough time generating offense in the beginning, mainly due to Vinicius Jr's absence, which affected their attacking power. However, they got a break when a poor defensive mistake led to a penalty. Antonio Rudiger was fouled in the penalty area just before a corner kick for Madrid, prompting the referee to award a penalty. Bellingham stepped up and calmly converted the kick, giving his team an early lead.
The second goal arrived just before half-time, with Mbappe skillfully bending a beautiful shot in off the post after some excellent setup work from Bellingham.
After halftime, Getafe became more creative, challenging Thibaut Courtois with a few shots. Chrisantus Uche and John Patrick both hit the woodwork, coming close to scoring.
Despite their efforts, nothing really worked out as planned. Madrid had the chance to score two or three more goals, but Rodrygo and then Mbappé both missed opportunities that could have sealed the game. Ultimately, though, scoring twice turned out to be sufficient.
