Real Madrid player ratings vs Getafe: Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe bounce back from awful Anfield displays to close the gap on faltering La Liga
The primary attacking pair for Los Blancos made significant contributions as Carlo Ancelotti's team secured an easy victory.
Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe bounced back from their recent challenges by each finding the net in Real Madrid's 2-0 victory over a tough Getafe team on Sunday.
After a disappointing performance in the Champions League earlier this week, the pair regained their offensive abilities, both netting goals in the first half of a match that ended in a rather easy victory. This win brought Madrid just one point closer to La Liga leaders Barcelona.
Real Madrid had a tough time finding their rhythm initially, as they missed Vinicius Jr, which hampered their offensive capabilities. However, they got a fortunate break when a careless defensive mistake allowed Antonio Rudiger to be fouled in the box right before a corner kick. The referee awarded a penalty, and Bellingham calmly converted it into a goal.
The second goal arrived just before half-time, with Mbappe delivering an impressive shot that curved in off the post, thanks to some excellent setup work by Bellingham.
After halftime, Getafe came up with more chances, putting Thibaut Courtois to the test a few times. Chrisantus Uche and John Patrick both came close, hitting the post with their shots.
Despite their efforts, nothing really clicked for Madrid. They had opportunities to add a couple more goals, but Rodrygo and then Mbappe both failed to convert. In the end, though, two goals proved to be sufficient.
