Real Madrid player ratings vs Getafe: Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe bounce back from awful Anfield displays to close the gap on faltering La Liga
The primary attacking partnership for Los Blancos was instrumental in helping Carlo Ancelotti's team secure an easy victory.
Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe bounced back from their recent struggles, each finding the net in Real Madrid's 2-0 victory over a tough Getafe on Sunday.
Following a dismal performance earlier in the week in the Champions League, the pair regained their offensive rhythm, each netting a goal in the first half. Their contributions helped secure an easy victory that brought Madrid within just one point of La Liga leaders Barcelona.
Real Madrid had a tough time getting things going at first, especially with Vinicius Jr not being available, which weakened their offense. However, they got a break when the other team made a silly defensive mistake. Antonio Rudiger was fouled in the penalty area right before a corner kick, leading the referee to award a penalty kick. Bellingham then calmly converted the penalty, giving Madrid the lead.
The second goal arrived just before the end of the first half, with Mbappe executing a brilliant shot that curled in off the post, thanks to an impressive setup by Bellingham.
After halftime, Getafe came up with a few more opportunities, challenging Thibaut Courtois a couple of times. Both Chrisantus Uche and John Patrick also came close to scoring, hitting the post.
Despite having opportunities, nothing truly materialized. Madrid had chances to increase their lead to three or four goals, but Rodrygo and then Mbappe failed to convert. Ultimately, though, two goals were sufficient.
