Manchester United's coach, Ruben Amorim, has encouraged Marcus Rashford to strive for his place at Old Trafford and expressed that he would be pleased for the striker to remain with the team.

In an interview with journalist Henry Winter on Wednesday, Rashford expressed his willingness to move on, stating that he feels ready for a new challenge after spending 20 years at United.

Amorim mentioned that he hasn't made a decision yet about whether he and Alejandro Garnacho will be included in the team for the Carabao Cup quarter-final against Tottenham on Thursday. Both of them were left out of the lineup for the derby match against Manchester City.

However, the manager mentioned that United performs better with standout players like Rashford. He expressed to the 27-year-old that he is eager to assist him in getting back to his best form on the field.

Amorim hasn't talked to Rashford since the remarks about his future, especially since the United players had a day off on Tuesday. However, he wants Rashford to understand that there's no pressure on him to leave the club.

"Amorim agreed with Rashford's statements when questioned. He acknowledged that they are facing a significant challenge, arguably the toughest in football, and mentioned that they are currently in a tough position. He expressed his hope that all of his players are prepared."

"Our player is prepared for the upcoming match," Amorim said. "I have had individual conversations with many of the players, as well as discussions during practice."

"My goal is to harness the strengths of Marcus Rashford and the other players. I'm not focused on what lies ahead; my attention is on the here and now. I aim to get the best out of each of them."

"My main goal is to achieve victory and contribute to the team's improvement. It's clear that we perform better with Marcus Rashford on the field. We'll explore various strategies to elevate Rashford’s game to the exceptional standards he's demonstrated in the past."

Rashford's contract with United runs until the summer of 2028, and he signed it after an impressive season where he scored 30 goals in 2022-23, making it worth £325,000 per week. Although he has had a tough time finding his rhythm over the past year and a half, which has led to him losing his spot on the England team, Amorim is pleased to keep him on the squad.

"Naturally, a club like this requires exceptional talent, and he certainly has that," Amorim stated. "My main concern is that he reaches his full potential and delivers strong performances. I’m here to support Marcus in that journey."
