Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz joined forces for the first time as Spain's highly anticipated duo began their Olympic doubles journey with a 7-6, 6-4 victory over Argentine sixth seeds Maximo Gonzales and Andres Molteni on Saturday.

"Nadalcaraz", dubbed by the Spanish fans, showcased some extraordinary tennis skills as they were cheered on to a win by a full audience in the evening session on Philippe Chatrie Court.

Even though there were concerns about injuries, the 38-year-old Nadal appeared to be in good form as he won the first set with a powerful backhand shot, showing why he has won the French Open 14 times.

Alcaraz, who won both the French Open and Wimbledon this year, is a rising star in men's tennis. He seemed to be enjoying himself playing alongside his idol, and he hit a powerful backhand winner to give the Spaniards a service break in the second set, making the score 4-4.

Nadal hit a powerful shot to earn match point in the following game, while the audience cheered "Rafa, Rafa." The Spaniards secured the victory with a successful Alcaraz shot, causing the crowd to stand and applaud the pair.
