QPR close to safety after win over Preston
QPR has reached 50 points after Lyndon Dykes scored the sole goal against Preston. This has placed them in the 18th position in the division.
QPR achieved victory against Preston at Loftus Road by scoring a goal in the first half, thanks to Lyndon Dykes. This win brings them one step closer to securing their place in the Championship.
The only point of the game occurred when the goalkeeper for Preston, Freddie Woodman, mishandled a pass from the left side and attempted to catch it. However, the ball landed in front of Dykes who was waiting and he managed to hit it into the goal from a short distance away.
Preston successfully prevented the opponents from scoring a second goal. However, they were unsuccessful in turning the game around and scoring themselves.
With this victory, the Hoops have now accumulated 50 points and are currently occupying the 18th spot on the Championship table. They have a six-points lead over Huddersfield, who are sitting just one spot above the relegation zone, with two more matches left to play.
The team from Sheffield called Wednesday is currently in 23rd place and is just behind the Terriers when it comes to goal difference. However, they do have one extra game to play and it's scheduled for this Sunday when they journey to Blackburn.
At the beginning of the game, QPR's Lucas Andersen had a good chance to score but his volley went just past the goal. Soon after, Preston's Liam Millar took a shot but QPR's goalkeeper Asmir Begovic was able to make a save from up close to prevent a goal.

The team playing at their own stadium almost scored their second goal before halftime. Chris Willock tried a curling shot from 20 yards away but was stopped by Woodman.
After the start of the second half, they persisted in their efforts, exerting pressure on their opponents and approaching the goal several times.
Even though Woodman messed up by letting a goal in, he made a really good save by diving low to his left and stopping Ilias Chair from scoring. This happened when there were only 15 minutes left in the game and Chair was heading towards the goal.
Immediately following that, Millar attempted a shot with the outer part of his foot, but Begovic defended it skillfully.
In the last 10 minutes of the game, many people insisted that QPR should receive a penalty. However, the referee, Gavin Ward, did not agree with the claims that Jordan Storey had used his arm to remove a cross.
Though the Rangers are nearing safety, the Preston team can no longer qualify for the play-offs. This is because they are behind Norwich City, who are in sixth place, by nine points. The Lilywhites only have two league games left to play.
