Marti Cifuentes believed that a strategic adjustment during the halftime break contributed to QPR's 2-0 victory against Oxford United at home.

This outcome marked the second consecutive win at home for Rangers and their fourth straight match without conceding a goal.

The first half was disappointing, but they improved in the second half, with Sam Field netting both goals to clinch the win.

Cifuentes admitted, "I realize that my initial years as a coach weren't the greatest."

He also recommended that the local supporters, who expressed their annoyance at halftime, should be more patient.

The manager of the R team shared, "We made some tactical tweaks in our approach to building up play. During the first half, we struggled a bit to get through the high press we were facing."

“We discussed ways to enhance our pace with the ball when we were positioned closer to the opponent's goal. We definitely achieved that.”

As a manager, one of my top priorities is to grasp the kind of support a player requires.

"Each player is unique. Some may require a little encouragement while others might thrive with a lighter touch."

It's understandable to feel frustrated when the first part isn't going well. One thing I've figured out in my career is that during these times, it's crucial for managers to remain composed. This calmness is often what the team really needs.

"All the credit goes to the players. I didn't succeed in the second half, and I didn't manage to find the back of the net twice. I just focus on doing my job to the best of my ability."

The Rangers, who were at the bottom of the Championship standings not long ago, have climbed to 19th place. They have gone five games without a loss and are now four points clear of the relegation zone.

Before their victory over Norwich on Saturday, they hadn't secured a win at home all season. In their match against Oxford, they faced challenges until Field managed to score and give them the lead early in the second half.

Reflecting on the past few weeks, Cifuentes remarked that everyone would appreciate a win like this.

"It appears that our performance in the first half didn't meet expectations, and I agree that we need to improve. However, we should remain humble and recognize the challenges we're facing, especially with so many players sidelined due to injuries."

"I understand that fans are looking for more. I want more, too. Everyone wants to see more. But the reality is, football is a challenging sport."

"I'm really excited for the players and the fans; it’s been a long time coming for these back-to-back victories."

“It’s significant for us because we're competing against a team that is just below us in the standings.”
