The Prince of Wales canceled his attendance at the memorial service for the late King Constantine of Greece at Windsor Castle because of a personal issue.

Kensington Palace provided no additional details, but they mentioned that the Princess of Wales is recuperating successfully after undergoing a surgical procedure on her abdomen.

William’s godfather, the former Constantine, passed away in January of last year. He was intimately connected to King Charles, who is his second cousin.

It was anticipated that William would be present at the event without his spouse Kate. The reason being that Kate had major surgery in January and is currently refraining from any official royal commitments until after the Easter period.

William, who was supposed to do a reading, phoned the Greek rulers to inform them that he couldn't come to the ceremony at St George’s Chapel.

Constantine, who was a distant relative and sailing companion of the deceased Duke of Edinburgh, passed away in January of the previous year at 82 years old. He had been overthrown from his position of power by a military coup many years prior.

She was staying at the London Clinic, a hospital for wealthy individuals, for nearly two weeks while getting better. After her restoration, she went back to her family's residence, which is located in Windsor.
