Rare PRINCE Guitar Sells For $381,000 At Auction; EDDIE VAN HALEN's "Canada Day" Guitar Sold For $104,000
Prince's Sadowsky Telecaster guitar, which he played during his 1986 Parade Tour and featured in the music video for his popular song "America," fetched $381,000 at a Julien's Auction on Wednesday, according to the Star Tribune. It's said to be one of just six guitars crafted in this design.
Although it's quite unusual, this guitar didn't reach the staggering price of $910,000 that was paid in June for Prince's Cloud 3 yellow guitar. That iconic instrument was crafted by luthier Dave Rusan in Bloomington and finished in early 1985.
In contrast, during this week's Julien's Auction, Eddie Van Halen's 1993 Ernie Ball Music Man Signature “Canada Day” electric guitar fetched $104,000. The auction also featured other notable items, such as Nirvana’s signed recording contract from 1991, which sold for $22,750, Freddie Mercury's tank top that he wore on stage in 1981, also for $22,750, and a fedora once owned and worn by Michael Jackson, which went for $5,850.
