Amazon Prime Video to have ads in UK from February
The TV show called The Summer I Turned Pretty is set to release its third season in the year 2024.
On February 5, 2024, Amazon will start putting ads on its Prime Video streaming platform.
If customers residing in the UK and Germany don't want to encounter advertisements frequently, they have the option to pay a sum of £2.99 per month, following which they will be exempted from such ads.
In the past, competitors like Disney+ and Netflix launched less expensive subscription options with ads to offset the increased costs.
According to Amazon, this decision will permit them to keep improving their content and make greater investments in that area for an extended period.
The company stated in an email to its customers that they strive to have a noticeably smaller amount of ads compared to traditional TV and other services offering streaming TV.
The article stated that even if individuals choose to pay for ad-free content, live events like sports will still feature advertisements.
Beginning on January 29th, adverts will appear sooner for shoppers situated in the United States and Canada. Amazon intends to broaden this approach in the following years to other countries, including France, Italy, Spain, Mexico, and Australia.
However, UK consumers may perceive that they are at a disadvantage, since they will have to pay more for an ad-free service, whereas customers in Germany will only pay €2.99 (£2.60) and those in the US will pay $2.99 (£2.35).
If you sign up for Amazon Prime, you'll get speedy delivery of your purchases within one day and you'll also be able to watch your favorite shows and movies through their streaming service.
The last time they increased the cost of their service was in 2022. They added an extra pound to the monthly fee, which now stands at £8.99. They also increased the annual subscription from £79 to £95.
Amazon has recently announced their plans for upcoming content, which has been followed by the introduction of advertisements.
Alongside the continuation of successful shows like Leverage: Redemption and The Boys, the company has also formed an agreement with Games Workshop to bring the popular game Warhammer 40,000 to the cinema, with the participation of British actor and avid gamer Henry Cavill.
The company is strategizing to create additional noteworthy material, such as its highly-anticipated program inspired by the gaming franchise Fallout.
In August 2023, Disney+ extended its ad-supported platform to the UK, and in 2022, Netflix launched its streaming service with advertisements under the label "basic with ads".
