Premium bonds

The lucky winners of the NS&I Premium Bonds jackpot this month come from Outer London and Devon. They each won £1 million in the latest draw.

NS&I announced that the initial Bond number picked was 516FV135553 and belongs to a lucky winner in Outer London. The winner has a total of £24,155 in Premium Bonds and bought their winning Bond in October 2022, less than two years ago. This winner marks the twelfth jackpot recipient of £1 million from Outer London.

The second random number chosen for the £1 million prize this month was 245FP902498 and the person who has that Bond lives in Devon. This lucky winner has £30,275 worth of Premium Bonds and bought the winning Bond in May 2015. They are the 18th person from Devon to become a millionaire through Premium Bonds.

Andrew Westhead, who is the Retail Director at NS&I, expressed his congratulations to the two new millionaires from Outer London and Devon. He thought it was a fantastic way to kick off the summer holidays.

It's not only about the lucky people who win the jackpot, as we are also giving out more than £457 million in prizes this month. A person from Kent won £100,000 with just a £100 investment in Premium Bonds. Another person who won £100,000 bought their bond back in 1995, almost 30 years ago - I bet they are glad they waited for so long!

The easiest way to get your rewards without any trouble is to have them deposited straight into your bank account or to have them automatically put back into purchasing more Premium Bonds.

Verifying rewards for holders of Premium Bonds is simple. On Friday 2 August, they can check if they have won a prize in the August draw by visiting the NS&I website, using the prize checker app, or asking Alexa. To check on the NS&I website, they will require their Premium Bonds holder's number. If using the prize checker app, they will need either their NS&I or holder's number. Additionally, individuals can verify if there are any unclaimed prizes owed to them.

The breakdown of the August 2024 prize draw is as follows: A grand total of 5,935,875 prizes amounting to £457,062,375 will be distributed. Out of the 124,653,374,131 Bond numbers entered, there were winners selected for the draw.

Prizes that haven't been claimed If you win a prize from Premium Bonds, you'll get a notification if you've given them your contact information. But sometimes people move or forget to update their info with NS&I. This can result in prizes going unclaimed, especially for those who choose to get their winnings by cheque instead of a bank transfer. You can register your paper Bonds online or by calling 08085 007 007.

In the outer part of London, there are 235,985 prizes waiting to be picked up with a total value of £8,244,450. Down in Devon, there are 40,729 prizes still up for grabs worth £1,365,875.

Clients have the option to receive their winnings either deposited directly into their bank account or put back into purchasing additional Premium Bonds. The majority of prizes, 90%, are already distributed through this method, which is faster and safer than waiting for a check.

Clients can access guidance on updating their preferred method for receiving prizes here. Customers with potential unclaimed prizes can conveniently verify using either NS&I’s online prize checker or the prize checker app.

Right now, there are 2,433,843 prizes worth £86,076,800 that have not been claimed yet.
