October Premium Bonds Draw Awards £1 Million Prizes
They've reported that another resident of Gloucestershire, who had only £275 invested in Premium Bonds from NS&I, won a £100,000 prize this month. The October draw awarded over 5.9 million prizes, totaling more than £461 million in value.
The initial Bond number picked was 535MK963637, and it belongs to a winner from Derbyshire. This individual has £50,000 invested in Premium Bonds and bought their winning Bond in March 2023. They are now the fifth person from Derbyshire to win £1 million.
The second Bond number revealed was 203JB525288, belonging to an individual in Gloucestershire. This winner has invested £29,900 in Premium Bonds and acquired the winning bond in February 2013. They are now the eighth jackpot winner from the Gloucestershire region.
Since the inaugural Premium Bonds prize draw in June 1957, approximately 719 million prizes have been awarded, totaling £33 billion in value. Of that amount, £3 billion has been distributed just since April of this year.
Andrew Westhead, the Retail Director at NS&I, expressed his excitement by saying, "Congratulations to the latest recipients of Premium Bonds million-dollar prizes from Derbyshire and Gloucestershire. I'm confident that these wins will add a touch of autumn joy for our fortunate Bond holders."
"It's not only the big jackpot winners that we celebrate this month. One lucky person won a £100,000 prize after investing just £275, while another winner scooped up a prize from a bond they purchased way back in July 1977, 47 years ago. This demonstrates that every eligible £1 Premium Bond, no matter when it was purchased, has the same opportunity to win."
### Overview of the October 2024 Prize Draw In the October 2024 prize draw, a grand total of 5,991,306 prizes will be awarded, amounting to £461,330,525. A staggering 125,817,411,486 Bond numbers qualified for this draw. Since its inception in June 1957, ERNIE has distributed 719 million prizes, with a cumulative value of £33 billion.
Winners of Premium Bonds are informed when they win a prize, but there are times when individuals relocate or update their contact information without informing NS&I. This can result in prizes going unclaimed, especially if the Bond holder prefers to receive their winnings by cheque instead of having them deposited directly into a bank account.
In Derbyshire, there are still 24,356 prizes totaling £861,350 that haven’t been claimed. The biggest unclaimed prize in the area is £25,000, which dates back to the draw held in March 2016.
In Gloucestershire, there are 22,595 prizes available that together amount to £768,875, all of which are still waiting to be collected. The biggest unclaimed prize stands at £5,000, originating from the prize draw held in April 2019.
Over 90% of prizes are now directly deposited into winners' bank accounts or automatically re-invested in additional Premium Bonds. This method is faster and safer than waiting for a check to arrive. Customers can learn how to adjust their prize delivery preferences here.
Individuals can easily find out if they have any unclaimed Premium Bonds prizes by using NS&I's online prize checker or the prize checker app with their holder's number.
Right now, there are 2,459,320 unclaimed prizes totaling £88,403,850 that are available for holders of Premium Bonds to collect.
