NS&I celebrates 30 years of Premium Bonds £1 million jackpots – latest winners in London and Scotland -

In April 2024, it will have been 30 years since the £1 million Premium Bonds jackpot was awarded. ERNIE granted more than 500 lucky Bond holders the considerable sum of money, which had a major impact on their lives.

In April 1994, a lucky Premium Bonds owner from Surrey became the first recipient of a £1 million jackpot. From that time till now, Agent Million has travelled over 222,000 miles to personally deliver the fantastic news to 528 bond holders. It's great to know that the youngest winner was just three years old, while the oldest was a 98-year-old.

ERNIE, the machine responsible for selecting winners of the Premium Bonds £1 million jackpot, recently celebrated its 30th anniversary. During this draw, two Bond numbers were chosen as winners, resulting in the 527th and 528th individuals from London and the Highlands and Islands to win the prestigious prize in April 2024.

In London, a fortunate individual won the initial Bond number of the month with the code 256VF976821. The winner has about £45,000 worth of Premium Bonds and acquired the victorious Bond in September of 2015.

Another lucky person has just won £1 million in Premium Bonds. This is the second time this month that someone has won the top prize. The bond number is 553BS622775 and the holder lives in the Highlands and Islands area. This winner already has £32,675 in Premium Bonds and bought the winning bond in September 2023. It's interesting to note that this is now the second millionaire from the Highlands and Islands to win a Premium Bonds jackpot.

In April 2024, a grand sum of £452,627,925 worth prizes amounting to 5,878,285 will be awarded. This prize pool was up for grabs to the 123,443,975,577 bond numbers qualified for the draw. The legendary machine ERNIE has been awarding prizes since its first draw in June 1957 and it has given away 684 million prizes with a collective value of £30.5 billion.
