Are you an October 2024 Premium Bonds winner?
Two holders of Premium Bonds have claimed the tax-free million-pound jackpot for October. Did you win a prize this month as well?
The first brand new millionaire comes from Derbyshire and holds the winning bond number 535MK963637. This individual owns £50,000 worth of Premium Bonds and purchased the winning bond in March 2023.
The second individual who has become a millionaire hails from Gloucestershire. They possess bond number 203JB525288 and manage a fund balance of £29,900, which was bought back in February 2013.
In this month's lottery, a total of 5.9 million prizes were distributed, amounting to £461 million.
In October’s draw, there were 125 billion bond numbers eligible for selection. Since the inaugural draw in 1957, 'Ernie' (the electronic random number generator from NS&I) has awarded a total of 719 million prizes, amounting to £33 billion.
On the first business day of every month, a lucky new millionaire will discover their winnings. However, if your number isn't selected, you'll need to wait until tomorrow (October 2nd) to see if you've won one of the cash prizes, which are exempt from income tax and capital gains tax (CGT).
To find out if you've won this month or in earlier draws, you can look up your number on the NS&I website, use the prize checker app, or simply ask your smart speaker, like 'Alexa.'
In October, a total of 88 lucky winners each took home £100,000, while 177 Premium Bond holders won £50,000.
One of the individuals who won a £100,000 prize had only put £275 into their Premium Bond, while another bought theirs 47 years ago.
Andrew Westhead, the retail director at NS&I, stated, "This demonstrates that every qualifying £1 Premium Bond, no matter when it was purchased, has the same opportunity to win."
If you happen to be one of the fortunate winners, NS&I will notify you of your exciting news at the address you have on file.
However, many people have money that belongs to them but remains unclaimed because they haven't updated their information after changing their address.
This affects Premium Bonds holders who have asked to receive any fees via a cheque instead of a direct bank transfer.
Currently, there are 2,459,320 unclaimed prizes totaling £88 million that are still awaiting collection by winners of Premium Bonds.
The most notable region is where one of this month's millionaires hails from in Gloucestershire, where there are 22,595 prizes totaling £768,875 in value.
