The initial fortunate winner drawn from the hat hailed from Kent and held Premium Bond number 405PY086681. This individual possessed the maximum investment of £50,000 and bought the bond back in July 2020.

A lucky winner from Cumbria is also enjoying a nice holiday surprise with their bond number 538KR930303. This individual purchased the bond back in April and currently holds a total of £33,275 in bonds.

This is the 24th recipient of the £1 million jackpot from Kent and the sixth from Cumbria.

NS&I's electronic random number generator, called Ernie, has selected 5,806,049 winners this month, amounting to more than £441 million in prizes.

This comprised 84 prizes of £100,000, 169 awards of £50,000, and 844 rewards of £25,000.

Andrew Westhead, the retail director at NS&I, stated: “Congratulations to our newest Premium Bonds millionaires from Kent and Cumbria. Since the initial Premium Bonds draw in 1957, we’ve awarded 731 million prizes totaling £34.1 billion.”

“What a fantastic surprise to kick off the Christmas season! As the holidays approach, Premium Bonds remain a favored saving option, giving millions the chance to win tax-free prizes every month, adding an element of thrill to the experience.”

The recipients of the Christmas prize have been notified, while the remaining winners will be announced tomorrow (3 December). To find out if you've won, visit the NS&I website, ask your smart speaker, or check the prize checker app.

Although there are countless winners, many prizes remain unclaimed. This often occurs when account holders update their contact information or relocate without informing NS&I. This situation commonly arises if the bond holder prefers to receive their prize via a cheque instead of a direct bank transfer.

Currently, there are almost 2.5 million prizes that collectively exceed £90 million, all waiting to be claimed.

While there's a winning ticket in Kent, there are still 65,269 prizes totaling approximately £2.3 million that haven't been claimed. The largest unclaimed jackpot is from the November 2007 draw, amounting to £50,000.

In Cumbria, there's a total of £517,450 in unclaimed winnings, consisting of 15,116 different prizes.

To find out if you’ve won a prize, you can use the NS&I online prize checker, which is available through their app or website. Simply enter the bond number of the holder to see the results.
