Gary Lineker asks question after Manchester United move to top of Premier League table

Manchester United are three points clear atop the Premier League table following a 1-0 victory over Burnley at Turf Moor.

Gary Lineker asked what Manchester United's 'doom-mongers' are going to complain about now after the club rose to the summit of the Premier League table.

Paul Pogba's second-half strike moved Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side three points clear of Liverpool ahead of Sunday's clash between the two sides at Anfield.

After a slow start to the season, United have picked up 29 points from the last 33 on offer to them and top the table in January for the first time since 2013.

"So @ManUtd are top of the Premier League. What on earth are the 'this is Manchester United' doom-mongers going to whine about now?" He asked on social media.

Gary Neville, meanwhile, believes United have proven themselves as title contenders with their form over the last two months.

He said: "It’s a strange season, if you’d have asked me at the start of the season [if United could win the league], I’d have said no chance, because they were nowhere near the consistency levels. But I’m sitting here tonight, why shouldn’t Manchester United fans believe, why shouldn’t the team believe?"

"You look at that front line of Cavani, Rashford, Martial, Greenwood; the midfield four - Fernandes, who wasn’t at his best tonight, but then Pogba’s absolutely fantastic. The other teams aren’t in great moments.

"City, probably at this moment in time, are the ones that are cool and calm, sat there in the middle of the pack, no-one is really talking about them but they’re starting to hit really good form themselves and they’ll be the real danger."
