A woman who lives at a polling station can rest easy knowing she won't forget to vote in the 2024 general election.

June Thomas, an 80-year-old woman, frequently transforms her home in Winwick, Northamptonshire, into one of the most unique voting locations in the UK.

However, Mrs. Thomas will not be marking any checkboxes on Thursday.

She has already cast her vote through the mail.

The voting place in Winwick is located in the corridor of the historic Old School House.

For over 50 years, the home of Mrs. Thomas in the Daventry area has served as the polling station for the residents of Winwick.

Voters mark their choices on the ballots in a corridor, below a staircase that appears to be suspended in mid-air.

However, Mrs. Thomas, who has resided at the Old School House on Church Road for 54 years, does not go down the hallway to cast her vote on election day.

She makes her way 300 yards to the post box in the village and sends her vote.

Mrs. Thomas mentioned that she received a mail-in ballot several years back.

She mentioned that in the past, she worked as a polling station clerk for the local council. Due to difficulty getting home to vote on election days, she was provided with a postal vote.

"It may sound strange, but I have continued to utilize my mail-in ballot and cast my vote through the postal system," she clarified.

I have never casted my vote at my residence, which serves as the polling place.

I have already cast my vote in the current election.

I understand why people would find it funny.

Residents in the eastern region will cast their votes at various locations such as village halls, pubs, sports clubs, and even some unique polling stations.

Residents of Thelnetham, Suffolk, will cast their vote at a historic village hall constructed in 1872.

During the 2019 elections, people voted at the historic Thelnetham Windmill instead of the village hall, which was not open. The windmill, built in 1819, added a unique touch to the voting experience.

The Fields Farmshop and Cafe in East Bergholt is another unique location for voting.

Abby Clayton, the owner, mentioned that she would not be able to cast her vote while on duty as she resided in a neighboring village and planned to return home to do so.
