Residents in Northamptonshire have the opportunity to vote for their preferred candidates at their nearest polling station until 10:00 PM BST. Even if there is a line, you can still exercise your right to vote as long as you were in line before the deadline.

Results will be announced in the early morning on Friday, with many anticipated to be revealed between 3:00 and 5:00.

The BBC website and BBC Radio Northampton will provide live updates on the outcomes, responses, and evaluations.

Voting is taking place in every district in Northamptonshire.

These areas are: Corby and East Northamptonshire, Daventry, Kettering, Northampton North, Northampton South, South Northamptonshire, and Wellingborough and Rushden.

In a system known as first past the post, the candidate who receives the highest number of votes wins the position of MP for that specific region.

A grand total of 650 Members of Parliament from the United Kingdom will be chosen to serve in the House of Commons.

The BBC, along with other television networks, cannot cover election campaigning while people are still voting.

Remember To Bring Your Voter ID

Just a friendly note that voters do not have to bring a polling card when voting in a general election. However, they do need to have one of 22 accepted forms of photo ID.

This could be a passport, a driver's license, or a senior or disabled individual's bus pass.

Some individuals who chose to vote by mail have said that they did not receive their voting materials, or that they received them after the deadline.

If you haven't gotten your mail-in ballot yet, the returning officer at your local council can give you a new voting kit until 5:00 PM on election day.

You are unable to get a new voting pack from the polling station near you.

Your finished postal ballot must reach your district council by 10:00 PM on election day.

If you have your postal vote but are concerned about the limited time to send it back before the deadline, you can bring your filled out postal pack to your polling station on July 4th before it closes at 10:00 PM.

Another option is to bring the filled out form to the electoral services team at your local council office before 5:00 PM on Thursday.
