'First Argyle goal one of my best ever' - Bundu
At Home Park, there was a joyful celebration when Mustapha Bundu scored his debut goal for Plymouth Argyle.
According to Mustapha Bundu, his initial score for Plymouth Argyle ranks among the finest of his professional life.
He had just joined the Championship club on a two-year deal from Anderlecht in Belgium and was making his first start when the strike occurred.
Bundu informed BBC Sport that it's one of the top two or three things.
The experience was incredible; everything about it was memorable. It was my debut match on our home turf, playing for the fans. Although we were not dominating the game, the atmosphere made it worth it.
"It was pleasant to receive the free-kick, score and provide some relief for everyone."
Bundu had played in five matches as a substitute player but had not scored a goal before. However, in the recent match against West Bromwich Albion, he came close to scoring but the match ended in a 0-0 draw.
However, Steven Schumacher, his manager, believed that it was only a question of time before his latest striker would score his first goal, as Argyle terminated a sequence of five games without victory.
Schumacher informed BBC Sport that ever since Mustapha arrived in the building, he has been consistently scoring goals during training sessions.
He's an impressive player when it comes to hitting the ball towards the goalpost. He has great skills in finishing the shots and his hits are clean, much like Morgan Whittaker.
"When they were preparing for the free-kick, I thought that Morgan would take it. Luckily, that didn't happen. Mustapha stepped up and hit the ball into the goal, making it ricochet off the crossbar."
According to Schumacher, the individual required ample time to improve their physical condition. However, they have made quite an impression on all the players since their arrival. From the very beginning, it was evident to everyone that they possess remarkable skills.
He possesses a great deal of talent, has a significant physical stature, and brings a unique quality to our team. Therefore, his initial performance has been superb. He made his first appearance at Home Park and scored his first Championship goal, which may boost his self-assurance.
Bundu got a round of applause as he left the game with 20 minutes remaining, and Ryan Hardie, who was the top scorer for Argyle and had replaced him in the team, was brought on.
Hardie scored the third goal for Argyle, and Bundu expressed his pleasure from collaborating with the Scottish football player.
Bundu expressed that he believed Ryan performed exceptionally today, and that he is gaining knowledge from Ryan, as Ryan is also learning from him.
Before the game, he wished me good luck and confidently predicted that I would score. And true to his words, I eventually scored. Afterwards, when I made my way to the bench, I jokingly commented that I had actually thought that he would end up scoring instead.
The crucial aspect is that anyone who participates is helping the team, and the team's victories are ultimately the top priority.
